From 2006 - 2008 I had three seperate arrests that resulted in several misdemeanor and felony charges all of which resulted in being dismissed, abandoned, or dropped. They all still show up on my FDLE records search. I am being told there is no way to get all of these removed (only one incident allowed in ones lifetime). This seems crazy given the fact I was innocent of these charges and yet potential employers see this if they do a search. Any one got any ideas or are we all presumed guilty until proven innocent? Thanks

Unfortunately, your understanding of Florida's law is correct. You can only expunge one case in your lifetime. This law is horribly outdated. I suggest you join RecordClearing.org to receive free information on how to help change Florida's expungement law. Unfortunately, a pardon will not help you because dismissed cases carry no conviction to pardon.

Thank you for the response (although unfortunately it only affirmed what I thought). It is no wonder we have jail overcrowding and high crime rates. If you can not get a job how are you supposed to pay for your probation visits, child support, food, etc. etc. Miss a payment and you are back in jail for violation of probation. It was bad enough before the recession now with so many people looking for work if you have any kind of blemish you are not even considered. I just lost two potential good jobs because of background checks that show no convictions at all. Well thanks for your efforts, I have to get out and try to find a job so I can feed my self.
